The focus of this program is to explore strategies and learn skills based on the principles of “mindfulness” for losing weight, maintaining weight loss, and decreasing metabolic health problems. When we look at energy balance, we must consider both “energy in”(e.g., consumption) and “energy out” (physical activity and exercise). Regular physical activity is key to not only achieving a healthy weight, but significant exercise is imperative to maintain a healthy weight. It is common to experience barriers to incorporating both daily physical activity and planned exercise. By exploring your barriers, you can better plan for them and strategize to move beyond them. Mindfulness can help you overcome barriers by creating a pause between the immediate perception of the barrier and automatic reaction, to allow you to challenge the barrier and envision what is possible.
