The focus of this program is to explore strategies and learn skills based on the principles of “mindfulness” for losing weight, maintaining weight loss, and decreasing metabolic health problems. Anytime we make changes that we want to maintain over time, it is important to build skills that will support our new behaviors. This includes learning how to cultivate compassion and kindness for ourselves.Such mindfulness skills can help us to learn to better manage our stress responses,particularly those that interfere with the maintenance of healthy behaviors. The cultivation of kindness toward self can also help us develop healthier relationships with food and our bodies, and make relapse much less likely.
