Freedom From Emotional Eating

The focus of this program is to explore strategies and learn skills based on the principles of “mindfulness” for losing weight, maintaining weight loss, and decreasing metabolic health problems. Many of us recognize that our eating is influenced by our day to day emotions. While we are not suggesting that you should never eat for emotional reasons, doing so frequently can make weight management a challenge. As importantly, using food for emotion regulation often means that your emotional needs go unmet. With practice and mindful awareness we can become more tuned into our emotions, see the value in them, learn to tolerate them without “stuffing them down with food”, and create healthier responses to our emotions. Mindfulness skills can help; these include learning to identify and “be with”emotions, noticing our automatic pilot reactions to difficult emotions, and learning more adaptive responses to our emotions.
